Cara De Carlo is a professional journalist. She grew up in Murrysville, PA, and graduated from Franklin Regional High School. Later, she went to graduate school for Mass Communication at Louisiana State University. In her time at LSU, De Carlo became the sports columnist for Red Shtick Magazine. At Red Shtick, she developed her upbeat, humorous style.
Cara De Carlo returned to Murrysville in August of 2010. She still writes for Red Shtick, but she’s added a lot of publications to her resume. Her work can be found in 225 Magazine, InRegister Magazine, and Denison Magazine. Currently, De Carlo works to write and manage posts for Sports Town, a high school sports site run by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. In addition, De Carlo writes up all of the local youth dek hockey games in the Murrysville/PT Star. She also works hard to bring you original sports coverage right here on SG.
When she’s not at her computer writing or out covering a game, De Carlo enjoys a lot of hobbies. Running 5Ks, playing softball, and playing vintage “base ball” are just a few. Sometimes, she still goes out to play rugby. (De Carlo played at the tournament level for Baton Rouge Women’s Rugby in 2006-2007.) She also loves to spend time with friends and family. Last but not least, De Carlo is a devoted “mom” to her two dogs, Lucky and GG.
